Invest in a Kitchen Remodel
Deciding to invest in a kitchen remodel is a significant decision that requires careful consideration. Many decisions have to be made about the design and materials used. Time and money are also needed as well as a team you trust to get the job done right. With a comprehensive plan and an experienced crew, a well-executed kitchen remodel can offer many benefits:
Personalization: One of the most satisfying benefits of a kitchen remodel is creating a kitchen with an enhanced aesthetic appeal and one that reflects your personality and style. The planning stage of a kitchen remodel allows you to customize the space to your specific tastes and needs by choosing the materials, colors, and layout that align with your preferences.
Longevity: Quality kitchen renovations provide a durable and functional space for your family that can last for many years. Although the financial benefits of a kitchen remodel can vary depending on multiple factors, the long-lasting benefit can make the initial investment worthwhile over the years.
Increased Property Value: Because potential buyers often prioritize the kitchen when considering a purchase, a renovated kitchen can make your property more appealing and command a higher selling price. A well-designed and updated kitchen can significantly increase the overall value of your home.
Improved Functionality: Kitchen remodeling allows you to create a more efficient workflow, add storage solutions, and modernize appliances to make cooking and meal preparation easier and more enjoyable.
Energy Efficiency: Upgrading your kitchen with energy-efficient features such as appliances, lighting, and insulation can lead to long-term savings on utility bills. Environmentally friendly features are also often appreciated by homebuyers, which can enhance the value of your home.
Safety and Health: Remodeling gives you the opportunity to address issues older kitchens may have such as outdated wiring, plumbing, and safety hazards. The result is a safer and healthier environment for you and your family.
Return on Investment (ROI): The ROI of a kitchen remodel can vary depending on factors such as the location and the extent of the renovation. Even so, many homeowners can recoup a significant portion of their investment when they sell their homes. According to industry estimates, a kitchen remodel can typically yield a ROI of 60-80%.
Competitive Advantage: Having an updated and attractive kitchen can set your home apart from others in the area during a competitive real estate market. This can lead to a potentially higher selling price and a faster sale.
What Does a Kitchen Remodel Entail?
Kitchen remodels can be as simple or elaborate as you want them to be. One of the biggest factors that will drive this decision is cost. The cost of your project will depend on many factors including design layout, square footage, material selection, appliances, flooring, and any upgrades to electrical, plumbing, or lighting. Of course, not all remodels demand the complete removal of and replacement of every aspect of the kitchen. At the very least, a kitchen remodel can entail the replacement of the kitchen countertops, kitchen backsplash, and the kitchen cabinets. Let’s talk more about how we make that happen…
Kitchen Countertop Replacement
One of the major components to a kitchen remodel is replacing the kitchen countertop. We work with several Phoenix area stone suppliers such as MSI, Aracruz RE, and Boulder Image Premium Quartz to ensure the highest quality quartz, granite, and quartzite in a wide variety of patterns, colors, and thicknesses. As part of the selection process, you will have the opportunity to peruse stone slabs offered through our suppliers to experience the look and feel of each piece. Each supplier has staff onsite to answer any questions you may have about their extensive selection.
Kitchen Countertop Installation Process
Our kitchen countertop installation process begins with your free in-home estimate. During our visit, we will talk to you about your project, provide samples and recommendations, and take necessary measurements. Once we have discussed the details of your project, you will then have the opportunity to visit one of our stone suppliers to view stone pieces up close and to get a real feel for how the stone slab will look in your space. When the stone is selected, a comprehensive estimate is provided. Upon your written approval, the stone is ordered, fabricated, and installed. This can take 2-3 weeks from the date of your written approval.
While the stone is being fabricated, the homeowner will be responsible for ordering any necessary appliances, including the kitchen sink. When the kitchen sink is in hand, we pick up the template included in the packaging for use during fabrication. All plumbing involved, including disconnect, reconnect, or even replacement, is the homeowner’s responsibility. On the day of installation, we will remove and haul away the old countertop and install the new countertop, including any necessary support to accommodate for the new countertop and sink (this is discussed at time of estimate). On average, a typical kitchen countertop installation can take anywhere from a few hours to a day or two. Several factors, including the size and complexity of your kitchen and the type of material chosen, can determine the amount of time it takes for the actual install.
Kitchen Countertop Installation with Backsplash
Purchasing a stone backsplash that extends from the countertop is a great way to create a seamless, cohesive design. The uninterrupted flow from the countertop material to the backsplash creates a wow factor that even potential home buyers will appreciate. Stone backsplashes that are continuous with the countertop are also very functional with little-to-no maintenance. With no grout lines or transitions between the countertop and backsplash, there are fewer areas for dirt, debris, or moisture to accumulate, which makes cleaning very straightforward. We specialize in providing stone backsplashes that are fabricated at the time of your countertop. Our design team will help you with creating a unique, personalized look that includes backsplash thickness, edge profile, and pattern placement. Backsplashes that are separate from the countertop will need to be installed after the countertop is installed.
Kitchen Sinks
Replacing the kitchen sink is generally recommended when installing a new kitchen countertop. This is done for several reasons but mainly for aesthetics and improved functionality. A new kitchen sink can provide a fresh, modern look that compliments the style, color, and material of the new countertop, providing a cohesive look. Kitchen sinks can also offer better features such as a deeper basin, multiple bowls, or additional accessories like a pull-out spray faucet or built-in soap dispenser.
Three of the most popular sinks that we install are under-mount granite composite sinks, under-mount farmhouse sinks, and workstation sinks. Here are some benefits of each:
Granite composite sinks have a natural stone-like appearance making them very durable, heat-resistant, stain-resistant, and easy to maintain. They also come in a variety of styles and colors, complimenting many kitchen designs and decor.
Under-mount farmhouse sinks feature large, deep basins perfect for washing large pots and pans. These sinks are generally made of porcelain, fireclay, or stainless steel. Their defining feature is the “apron” or front panel that extends down from the countertop.
Workstation sinks are multi-functional sinks that include an integrated ledge that supports a range of accessories. This type of sink can be made of stainless steel, fireclay, or granite composite. The flexible workspace created is intended to streamline meal prep and cleanup.
Kitchen Cabinet Replacement
New cabinets can completely transform the look and feel of your kitchen. Today’s cabinets come in a wide range of materials, styles, and finishes to create virtually any design—modern, rustic, traditional, or custom. Improved storage, organization, and overall functionality are some of the benefits to installing new cabinets. Replacing old cabinets allows you to redesign and customize your kitchen to suit your culinary needs. Features such as deep drawers, pull-out shelves, utensil trays, lazy Susans, spice racks, and built-in dividers maximize efficiency. New cabinets will also be easier to clean, durable, and offer energy-efficient features like LED lighting.
Kitchen Cabinet Installation Process
The process to replace kitchen cabinets begins with your free in-home estimate. During our visit, we will talk to you about your project, provide samples and recommendations, and take necessary measurements. The planning process is an important one as it is crucial to get the layout correct from the beginning and solidify color and style selections. Once selections have been made, the cabinets are ordered. The homeowner will be responsible for preparing the area for the day of installation. This includes clearing the area of any and all items, disconnecting plumbing and appliances, and presenting a generally clean area. On the day of installation, the area is prepped for the new cabinets. This includes removing and hauling away the old countertops and cabinets. The new cabinets are then installed, both upper and lower, as well as all of the trim and moldings. Finally, we adjust all of the doors and verify the cabinets are level and ready for countertop measurements. On average, cabinet installation can take approximately two days once the cabinets are on site.
Commercial Kitchen Countertop Installation
Commercial kitchen countertops allow for food preparation, storage, and a general workspace in restaurants, catering businesses, cafés, and other foodservice establishments. Because commercial countertops need to be safe, functional, and durable, their installation is a specialized process. Professional installation of commercial countertops is essential to ensure there is an efficient workflow as well as compliance with health and safety regulations.
To begin the process, proper design and layout are crucial. Adequate placement of the countertop in relation to the cooking equipment, storage, and sinks are essential. It needs to be noted that commercial kitchens are held to a higher standard and must meet local health department and building code regulations.Such regulations can dictate which materials can be used and even the workspace dimensions. Countertops should also be made of a material that is safe and sanitary for food contact and be easy to clean. Popular choices for material selection include quartz or other stone surfaces, granite, and stainless steel. We specialize in stone countertop installation.
Some considerations when considering a commercial countertop installation are the size and complexity of the design, material chosen, and the integration of sinks and special cutting boards. The time and cost of the project are dictated by the square footage involved in the project.
